What I'm Not Bringing to College
As an eighteen year old who is getting ready to set out into the world by herself, one of the things I think about is what am I going to take with me?
For some reason I have the hardest time listing things that I WANT to bring with me to college and abroad. On the other hand, I can list the things I do not plan on bringing.
So here it is, nine things I will not pack.
1. Old schoolwork/school books
The exception being ones I will need for college or that I am constantly going back to.
2. Throw pillows
When I was around thirteen I developed a love for throw pillows but I sure do not want to deal with them at college/ abroad. I may or may not re introduce them into my life after I move into my own place.
3. Books that do not belong to me
I wish I could, I really do, but I am afraid that if I take them with me their real owners will never get them back. So, when I begin to travel abroad and go to college I will only bring titles that belong to me. (This is going to be so hard)
4. Beauty products/ bathroom products that I do not use
I am looking at you makeup.
5. All of my shoes
I do not have that many pairs of shoes, but I am not going to bring all of them. Especially not those shoes that I rarely wear. I will bring my most useful pairs. It would be fantastic if I could just go barefoot though.
6. ALL of my old journals
Don't get me wrong here! I will bring SOME of my journals to look back on, but maybe not the ones from when I was twelve. I will DEFINITELY bring new journals to fill.
7. My cat
This is one of those that is so obvious but so heartbreaking. Sadly though, my cat can not come abroad with me or to college. She would hate it.
8. All of my holiday decorations
This is one of those things like the throw pillows, it's just not important when your traveling and studying.
9. All of my arts supplies
Last but not least are my art supplies. While I will not be bringing every roll of washi tape with me, I am still planning on packing a sketch book, some pencils, and maybe some paint to do little things with.
What are some things you will not be bringing to college?
P.S. If you like that picture from the top of this post you might like my post on Venice.
I've already separated my journal collection by "completed records" and "in progress," so I will bring most of the "in progress" ones, especially the one that chronicles my life. :)
ReplyDeleteAs for throw pillows, I've already bought some for the dorm room. :P
